Image comparisons.

Image quality is essential for any webcam, but its meaning can be unclear. For some, it refers to vibrant colors, while for others, it's about an attractive bokeh. Read below as we get into these aspects and compare the Tadpole to the most common cameras in the market.

Color and lighting.

Color accuracy

Color accuracy is key for the Tadpole. In our image tuning process, we captured a large range of color tones across different lighting conditions, ensuring our sensor is well-adjusted to match the common lighting environments of our customers.

Low light

With both the Tadpole and the C1, we prioritize exposure for the subject's face, rather than the entire frame captured by the camera. This ensures that you will always be visible regardless of your environment. Additionally, we never exceed 6400 ISO, as high grain images or longer exposure times often result in poor image quality.

Dynamic Range

Sensors’ dynamic range allows you to capture data in both the darkest and the lightest zones of an image. The best DSLR cameras only capture half of what our eyes can see. Our Sony sensor is graded to achieve a healthy color waveform under most conditions.

Lens and Sensor

Auto Focus

Tadpole uses PDAF (phase detection auto focus) to make a smoother auto focus experience than conventional auto focus systems.

Focal length

The Tadpole has an equivalent focal length to a 35mm lens on a full frame camera. We believe it achieves a better cinematic look than a wider lens would.
